The World Bank requires environmental assessments of the projects that it funds as part of Operational Policy, Bank Procedures 4.01 (OP/BP 4.01) "Environmental Assessment" of January 1999. As part of this, it requires 

   * "sectoral assessments" for strategic actions that affect a sector: Update 4 of the EA Sourcebook
   * "regional assessments" for those that affect a region: Update 15 of the sourcebook.
